PART 15 (Final)

Rin rushed over to Alaster, tears streaming down her face. She threw herself down beside him, summoning her magic. She checked to see if there was any neurotic damage, her hands glowing a bright green. The intruder stood across from them, his face devoid of expression. He watched as Rin tried to revive Alaster with no success. Rin turned on him, her magical energies flaring around her body.

"You shall pay for this with your life!"

A decade later, Rin walked among the tombstones. She carried in her trembling hands a heterogeneous gamut of flowers, woven together to form a garland. Her bright eyes glimmered with emotions, but she refused to let them show. She still felt maladjusted to her new life. The Temple would never be the same for her, no matter what she did. His mortality had been cut short, though his perspicacious nature should have saved him. He had been susceptible to death, and death had taken him in his youth. She came to a halt in front of the largest tombstone in the graveyard, reading the inscription hewn there.

A figure stopped behind her, waiting for her to acknowledge him. Rin turned, her face mournful but devoid of tears. The intruder embraced her, running his fingers through her hair. She pulled away from him, unable to show him feelings in such a sacred place. He too felt the effects of the phenomenon that had shaken the Temple ten years ago. The catastrophe was not analogous to any experience they could think of. However, somehow he had recovered, showing no remorse for the death of their fellow Brother.

"He was a member of the Temple." Rin sighed, clutching her bouquet of flowers. "I must grieve for him."

"Rin my love let us leave this place. We have much to do." He kissed her gently, and then walked towards the entrance to the graveyard.

Rin lingered another moment, a gentle breeze playing with her hair. Around her birds sang and the trees rustled in the wind. She bent down slowly, placing the flowers on the tombstone, watching, as some of the petals broke free and danced in the sunlight. Turning away from his memory she ran, calling after the retreating figure.

"Wait for me Alaster."
Well, to all of my faithful readers, you have made it to the end. I hope that you have enjoyed it, or at least found it amusing in some way. It is difficult to write one long, continuous story when one is confined to using certain vocabulary terms, and up until his retirement my teacher has told his students about the one girl years ago who wrote a long continuous story using his vocab words.

Sometimes, it takes reading this twice for people to understand exactly what is happening...and while that sounds like poor writing, it is actually a genius way of concluding a story, imho. :D

***

My 12th grade English teacher assigned us vocabulary words each week. I turned mine into a story that spanned over all of the weeks...winging it as I went!

I enjoyed writing this story. I hope you enjoy reading it all. I will put up a new part (or two, depending on how things go) about once a week. The story is already complete...I hope you'll stick around for the ending!

Feel free to comment. If you want to use this, please get my permission! Enjoy!

Note: Yes, I know that the end paragraph from the last one might be here as well. I did that occasionally. Just wanted to let you all know I did it on purpose sometimes :D
